ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE SPORT MANAGEMENT ADDS THREE OLYMPIANS TO ITS ROSTER
Jul 01, 2009
Ultimate Performance Sport Management, founded by World Record Holder and Five-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson, today announced the signing of Galen Rupp, Michael Bingham and Javier Culson Perez to its client roster. These three 2008 Olympians will join an elite group of track and field luminaries, including Jeremy Wariner, who have chosen Johnson and Ultimate Performance to help guide their professional careers.

Johnson brings a very unique perspective to his role as a sports agent by combining his own personal experience as a professional athlete along with his expertise in sports management, and the business relationships he has developed. Johnson and his team will function not only as a contract negotiator but also as a manager for travel, marketing opportunities and promotional obligations.

"When I retired in 2001, I felt that I was uniquely qualified to offer other athletes a level of quality and attention to detail that is often hard to find in the sports management arena, so I created Ultimate Performance,” Johnson said. “We’re incredibly selective about whom we represent, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with and for these three amazing young men."

Six-time NCAA Champ Galen Rupp said this blend of personal experience, expertise and professionalism is what drew him to Ultimate Performance.

"I’ve always surrounded myself with good people, and it’s a tight circle,” Rupp said. “I felt an immediate connection with Michael. I knew I could trust him, and that’s one of the most important things to me."

The Portland native and U.S. 10,000-meter champion placed 13th in the Beijing Olympics last summer and made his third U.S. national team last week.

In addition to Rupp, Ultimate Performance will represent 23-year-old Michael Bingham of North Carolina who competed for Great Britain in the 4 x 400-meter relay and helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish. Bingham is an All-American (Indoor and Outdoor) and was named to eight all-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams.

Rounding out this celebrated group is 400-meter hurdler Javier Culson Perez of Puerto Rico. The six-foot, six-inch 24-year-old finished eighth at last year’s summer Olympic Games and has an outdoor personal best time of 48.87 seconds. Not only will Perez be a client of Ultimate Performance Sport Management, but he will also be training with Johnson and his team at the renowned Michael Johnson Performance Center, a 24,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in McKinney, Texas. Wariner Captures GOLD and Runs Third Fastest Time Ever (43.45) in 400 Meters at World Championships
Aug 31, 2007
Jeremy Wariner retained his world 400 meter title at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, running the fifth-fastest time in history.  The 23-year-old Texan, starting from lane six, finished in 43.45 seconds, despite a swirling wind in Osaka.  "I knew it would take at least a mid-43 to win it,” said Wariner. "I couldn't ask for a better race. I know the 4x400 (relay) is going to be a lot of fun.  I'm fulfilling my goals step by step. Next year it is to defend my Olympic title."  Only Michael Johnson and Butch Reynolds have run faster than Wariner, Johnson setting the world record of 43.18 at the 1999 World Championships in Seville.  Click here to read more
